How in the World Do You Decorate Your Bathroom?

If you're bored with the cold winter months and want to do something to put a little spice in your life, you might consider doing some remodeling in your home or apartment. Nothing will perk you up like having bright, fresh rooms to come home to. As the two most important and used rooms in any home, the needs of your bathroom and kitchen are the first ones you should look into.

As we said, these rooms see more use than most of the other rooms do; however, they are often the most neglected and rundown, too. Think about how long its been since you made any attempt to make over one of these rooms. When you think about it, you're probably going to realize that its been a long time since you even considered it.

Even if you have noticed things around the bath that you thought looked kind of bad, you probably shrugged and went about your business saying you didn't have time to undertake a room overhaul. And back whenever you thought this, the room probably didn't look nearly as bad as it does now. Things like this tend to creep up on you. Even if you've been keeping your rooms white-glove clean, there are still things that get worn and outdated.

I dare you to go into your bathroom and take a really close look. So what do you see? Maybe the curtains look limp and worn, and the bathroom rugs are getting a bit threadbare. Are those soap dishes you're still using those two-piece plastic models that were popular back in the '70s? As I'm sure you've heard before, they don't make things the way they used to, and if you look at your outdated items, you'll probably see why.

Start by getting rid of all the unnecessary junk, and buy yourself some new, updated accessories. There is an amazing selection to choose from these days. You may have even been eying a gorgeous bathroom set in a store. By getting rid of the old junk, you'll have a reason to go out and treat yourself to it.

Make sure that whatever you buy is sturdy and water resistant. After all, these items are going to get a lot of use, and they're going to be exposed to water, soap, and other spills. You'll want your rugs to be machine washable so that when they get dirty you can just pop them into the wash and have them come out looking like new.

If you'd like to find some new, innovative ways to decorate your bathroom, there are numerous places you can draw inspiration from. For instance, there are mail-order catalogs with everything you could possibly want. It's possible that the catalogs will give you ideas you can use in order to substitute a less-costly item for the one they have pictured.

All it will take to get you going is some catalogs or websites where you can start getting ideas. Then your own ingenuity and creativity will start coming into play as you begin designing the ideal spaces for your kitchen and bath. What started as a small change could end up snowballing on you, and, if it does, you're going to love your gorgeous new rooms.

Have you considered any bathroom decor ideas lately? How about a Lladro Bathroom? It doesn't have to be expensive. Find out more at http://www.bathroomstyleguide.com

Kitchen Decorating Trends - Home Tips

The kitchen is the heart of the home and who hasn't spent hours in there sipping coffee with friends and family? So it should come as no surprise that one of the hot kitchen decorating trends of today is using coffee kitchen dcor to perk up the look of this much used room.

When decorating with this theme you will find that your kitchen takes on a trendy but also comfortable appeal. Giving your kitchen the look of a popular caf is one twist on this decorating method but you could also go with a vintage appeal and give it more of a diner look. Either way, this style of dcor is sure to please.

The great thing about this style is that you can use basically any color scheme. This allows the homeowner to easily give their kitchen the aura of a coffee house without having to spend a lot of time and money on painting and refitting it with new appliances. However, if you do want to give your kitchen a fresh coat of paint, you might consider the color of caf au lait - it's very popular and will go with any dcor if you should tire of the coffee theme.

Finding coffee kitchen dcor can be fun and today there are many options. First of all, you can find coffee themed items in most stores and online. Today, this trend is rather popular and you can find pot holders, kitchen towels and even curtains adorned with steaming mugs of coffee.

While all these items are great, I like to add a little unique flair to my decorating projects and what better way then to scour flea markets and antique shops for vintage coffee themed items. Here are some fun items that you can keep an eye out for that will add charm to your coffee themed kitchen:

- Vintage coffee house signs
- signs from coffee houses that show the menu or types of coffee
- Vintage sings for different brands of coffee
- Vintage coffee canisters
- Old coffee mills
- Plain white utilitarian coffee mugs and saucers just like you see in the old diners

You might also want to look for old tables from diners for your kitchen table or go with a more trendy caf look by using a wrought iron table with a glass top or even one of the modern style tables at the furniture store which actually resemble the tables and chairs you see in trendy coffee houses today.

So, you see, using coffee kitchen dcor in your home can be fun and you can even add unique appeal by finding one of a kind items that are reminiscent of the great coffee house days. With a little attention to detail, you're sure to put together a kitchen that reflects one of today's modern trends as well as a little bit of yesterday.

Your house doesn't have to be boring and you don't have to spend a lot to jazz it up either! To find out how to decorate your house on a budget, please visit http://www.perfecthomedecor.com where you can learn about all different decorating styles including more on coffee kitchen decor.

Goal Planning is Not Just a Work Thing

We all set goals whether deliberately or not. At work your boss may set you targets to achieve, or you may look at the pile of work on your desk and set your goals by deciding what you will complete that day.

That promotion at work could be you prime motivator. However many people only set goals which are work or career related, where your goal planning is easy to measure success or otherwise.

There is also a need to set goals in your personal and social life. What sort of goals? How about one goal to achieve is to make sure that your family immediate and distant know how much you love and appreciate them before it is too late and they or you are gone forever.

A goal to wake up every morning with a smile and determined to make the life of someone else better because they know you.

Why is it that 'Gurus' and self improvement teachers only believe that by setting mighty goals you will have a sense of achievement. This is just not true and many people do not set goals because they feel they should only set lofty goals, and when you do not achieve your goals you feel a sense of frustration and failure and believe you will never make anything of yourself.

Your goals to achieve could be to learn to play golf, the piano or any other thing that you have been putting off through lack of time. Goal objectives do not need to be massive or complicated; Your daily goals should be ones that keep you involved with what is going on around you every day but gradually change your life for the better.

Just try writing down one thing that you would like to do today, regardless of where it is at, work or home. A goal to do something today has to be simple or you will not do it. It could be simply to write or to visit someone you have not see or heard of in a long time.

How many times do you look at your 'To Do' list and wonder where you should start, so you decide tomorrow is a better day for looking at it. If you find writing a 'To Do' list frightening because you have so much 'To Do', try writing a 'Have Done' list at the end of the day, you will be surprised at what you really achieve each day, from making another person smile to clearing out your garage.

Giving yourself a reward for getting something on your list done today is a great motivator in making tomorrow better. When you have compiled your 'Have Done' list for a number of days or weeks, whenever you feel a little down with yourself get it out, you will feel lifted again just reading through your achievements, large and small, without the need to read a book by a 'Famous Guru' that can make you feel inferior.

In order to achieve your goals, large or small, there are techniques to help you achieve all of them. These are techniques that have been used by successful people throughout the ages and the beauty is that once you have been told what they are you can use these same techniques to achieve what you want no matter what it is.

You do not have to study a Masters Degree or belong to the intelligence, you have to be you, just what you are, what you know and what you can do now. Goal planning, goal setting and achievement are pleasurable things that give your life value.

Outdoor teak furniture is considered an appropriate choice for lawn and patio furniture. It looks both modern and indigenous. Cedar is pretty thick, and has solid wood. Therefore, you don't have to worry about weather aspects. The smell of cedar is quite aromatic.

The colour of Teak furniture is not subject to being faded as happens in the case of metal furniture. That is why this teak furniture doesn't require painting and merely a simple finishing coat will be enough. Most of the varieties of teak such as cedar, aspen and pine go through the process of checking, which is one of the features of these woods. This process happens when moisture is released by wood. But, the structural process of integrity of the wood remains unaffected with the process. This process of checking is only done so as to enhance the style of outdoor teak furniture.

You can find some other varieties of outdoor furniture and accessories as well like porch swings, gliders, bridges, etc. All these outdoor furniture and accessories are formed of materials of superior quality. Build Or Remodel - Constuction Tips

There are three possible scenarios involved in that question:

1. Stay where you are and renovate

2. Move to an existing house and renovate

3. Build a new house for you to move into

There are numerous considerations, not the least of which is how you feel about your existing location. That word - LOCATION - should be your primary focus. Do you prefer to remain where you are, or not? Is staying where you are an option, or are you forced to relocate due to a job change, or other issues?

If you wish to stay where you are, there's no reason to read this article. Remodeling and/or expanding the place where you now live is the least expensive alternative - by far.
Your aggravation levels will increase during the construction, but they will do that with either of the other choices as well. If it gets to be too much, you can move to a motel for 2 months, eat dinner out every night, and still come out cheaper than either option 2 or option 3. If you want to be in your present home, case closed.

So let's assume you have to move, and we'll concentrate on option 2 vs. option 3. There are two important aspects of this topic which apply to both.
In both cases you have to research the property with the building department to make sure you will be able to do what you wish. Verify zoning, lot size restrictions, and access to utilities.
You will have unknown costs (moving, insurance, taxes, financing costs, etc.) in either case.

Advantages of remodeling an existing house:
Fewer hidden (or unknown) costs. New homes often have impact fees, ground preparation fees, and higher permit fees than those imposed for remodeling.
Hard construction costs will be less (usually, but not always).
You can move into the house much sooner. If you have to leave your existing home quickly, you may not have the ability to wait for a new home to be built.

Advantages of building new:
Unrestricted design potential, allowing you to end up with a more modern, better insulated home, with better traffic flow than you would have in an older building. Also, older homes have less closet/storage space than new ones.
Your long term energy costs will be lower because all of your equipment will be running more efficiently.
Less disruption to family routine. While construction is happening, you're still living in your present house. Then you move into a finished product (possibly with some decorative items to complete).

I'm sure you noticed that I haven't listed costs in either list. The determining factor is going to be the extent of the renovation to the existing building. Depending upon the condition of the house, age, building codes and other factors, it can actually be more costly to remodel than to build new.

In either case, allow an extra 20% in your budget over and above any quoted costs you've obtained. 10% is for upgrades that you decide upon after initial pricing. The other 10% is for the rising costs of material and labor. If the price of oil goes through the roof again, 10% might not be enough.

If the older home was built between 1950 and 1978, there might be issues having to do with asbestos and lead paint. Make sure you get a professional inspection performed. You may also be required to bring the plumbing and electrical systems up to date.

In conclusion, renovating a home might be very rewarding, as well as the cheaper alternative. However, you have to do your homework before making the commitment, in order to insure that you're not stepping into a money pit. Every situation is different. Your decision will probably come down to what your sixth sense tells you. Regardless of how you choose, anticipate that moving into a new home will take more time and more money than expected.

Anyone Can Build a Deck - Construction Advice

Working in the construction business for over 30 years and listening to homeowners, tell me how fortunate I am to have the ability to work on my own home. It kind of makes me feel good to hear them praise me and when I have completed their project, they usually are extremely happy with how it turned out. I've been listening to this for years and came to one conclusion, anyone can do what I do, with the correct information.

I was building a deck and a homeowner and his son were there constantly, watching me work on the project. They would ask if they can help and if there was anything they could do, they would like to learn the deck building process, so one day they could build their own decks. Most of the time, they were in my way and slowed me down. I finally got to a point where I had to asked them if they could watch from a distance, because I was starting to run behind on the project. It was starting to cost me money to educate them. I just didn't have time for this and there was no way, that I wanted to hurt their feelings or make them mad at me.

They agreed and at the end of the day, would have a couple of questions for me. I told the father, that I would bring him a few books on deck building and he could keep them as long as he needed. Him and his son were more than happy to accept my offer and the next day, they were nowhere in sight. At the end of the day as I was putting my tools away, a homeowner and his son approached me and thanked me for loaning them the books, but they were done with them. The son explained to me, that they were going to purchase some of their own books on deck building, because mine were a little out of date.

To make a long story short, I finished the deck, got paid and went on my way. A few months later they contacted me and asked if I had time, can I come over the house and look at the new deck, that they built next to mine. I said I would be glad to, and would be there tomorrow evening. When I arrived at the job site, I couldn't even get out of my truck, the father and his son were waiting for me in the driveway and directed me to drive to the back of the home.

There new deck was about 10' x 10' and matched the one that I built pretty good. They did a great job and after I told them, what a wonderful job they did building the deck, they were like two kids in a candy store. It seemed like, I had just made their day and it made me feel good, and that they felt good.

Sometimes building a deck or home repairs can be performed like a professional, with a little bit of help, from the book.

Easy Bathroom Remodeling Solutions

Here's a list of problems that contractors run into when designing, planning, and remodeling bathrooms. These bathroom remodeling solutions listed below, often create problems for homeowners as well as contractors. Some of these problems have created contract disputes and could have been solved if the contractor or a homeowner was informed properly.

1. Problems with Old Galvanized Water Pipes: This is one of the biggest problems with older homes. Metal rusts and water running through these metal pipes will speed this process up, considerably. The problem arises when the galvanized water supply pipes cannot be taken apart or unthreaded, to add new plumbing fixtures or pipes, during the bathroom remodel.

Solution to the Problem: Experience contractors should inform their clients, about problems like this and what they propose to do, if they run into a situation where the galvanized water pipes are badly damaged. There will usually be extra work, which leads to extra money and this could create a problem between the contractor and a homeowner.

2. Problems with cast-iron drainpipes: these pipes often rust or become separated at the joints, creating water leaks and even areas for tree roots to enter the drainage system. These tree roots of course will cause the drainpipes to clog and eventually will have to be cleared in order for the drainage system to work properly.

Solution to the problem: informed the home owner of problems with cast-iron plumbing. If the contractor explains to the homeowner, any problems that could arise and a solution, you will find the process of bathroom remodeling a little less stressful. This stress can be eliminated or the contractor and a homeowner with a little preparation.

If you're a remodeling contractor, it wouldn't be a bad idea to make out a list of potential problems for the homeowner. List as many of the problems as you can think of, that you have ran into in the past or have heard other contractors and homeowners talking about. These lists can be given to your clients when you sign the contract.

7 Easy Tips to Internationalize Your Website

Most websites owners only think of catering to their local or national audiences. That's fine if you want to limit your market to your domestic market. But if you want to get sales outside of your current domestic market you must look at how well your website is communicating with others.

There are more non-native English speakers online. The question is whether your website is written for all of your international readers.

If your website is well targeted to your local domestic markets, the chances are it does not communicate well outside of that market. And even worse, it may even be pushing your international clients away.

There are things you can do to make your domestic website friendlier to everyone. This is called website internationalization.

You also have the option of creating a separate international website for all of your international visitors.

In both cases here are the first things you can do to...

Stop Pushing Your Foreign Visitors Away

How many of your international visitors are you turning away without realizing it?

Here are 7 tips on how to keep your website friendly for international visitors.

1. Make Your Website Easy To Read For All Of Your Readers

The majority of internet users world-wide are non-native English speakers. Your web site visitors may have more difficulty in reading English than you do.

Make your website easy to read by people from all different cultures and with different language skill levels.

Do you know if all of your readers understand your website?

2. Be Reachable By Phone To Everyone

Cross cultural blunders happen even with phone communication.

One of the first blunders here is not clearly indicating a phone numbers international callers can reach you on.

Do you tell all of your readers how they can reach you by phone?

3. Show The World Your Location

Foreign visitors are curious about who they do business with. They like to know and be able to visualize where you are.

Clearly stating your real address helps build trust in your international readers. No easy to find address often puts up an immediate barrier of distrust.

Do you let everyone know where you are located?

4. Create Clarity With A Consistent Vocabulary

A consistent vocabulary makes it easier for your readers to understand you. It also makes your website faster to read and navigate.

Inconsistent vocabulary easily leads in cross cultural communication blunders.

A consistent vocabulary creates clarity and this reinforces trust.

Does the vocabulary used on your website communicate with clarity?

5. Use The Right Order Forms For International Sales

This is still an important source of difficulty in international sales. Sales are easily lost on the order page. Your international visitor may simply not know how to fill it out because it is not in an appropriate format.

As the payment platforms improve this should create less problems. Be aware of the problems your international clients have with your order forms and help them use it or find other options.

Do you have an order form appropriate for all of your international sales?

6. Publish A Glossary For Clarity And Consistency

A glossary can be a wonderful communication tool for your international visitors. It is especially useful if the glossary is easy to read and very simple in format with clear explanations.

It is highly recommended in certain industries where specific vocabulary requires expert translations. Simply explain words with utmost simplicity, clarity and accuracy. This is almost always much better than translations

Glossaries are also appreciated in non-technical areas too. Cultural habits differ. People can use vocabulary differently. Glossaries provide insight into how you communicate and provide a base for cross-cultural dialog.

Do you have a glossary explaining industry terms?

7. Welcome Your International Visitors

Creating a relationship with international visitors can be as simple as "We welcome international clients" in the right place.

You are inviting your international visitors to dialog with you.

  • They may feel hesitant to call or contact you because their language skills are not that great.
  • They may feel embarrassed to call knowing it will take them 5 minutes to talk to know when it would take them 1 minute in their own language.
Convey your willingness to serve international clients and you will get more foreign revenue.

Do your international clients feel welcome?

Internationalize Your Communication For More International Sales

With fluctuations in international exchange rate, you want to be ready to make more international sales.

Don't lose international sales with a website that pushes your international prospects away.

Follow these tips for a friendlier website for all of your visitors.

Log Home Preservation Methods - Borate Wood Preservatives

Log Home BorateTreatments - the options and how and when to use!

One of the most important ways to protect your investment, your home, is to use a wood preservative on your logs. There are only two times that you can effectively use these products on your logs. When the home is built, before it is stained, or after cob blasting a finish off of your logs, before you re-stain. The wood preservative must be applied to raw wood, so it can soak in and dry underneath the stain.

All wood faces the possibility of rot and insect infestation, even in dry climates. Fungi and insects actually consume the cells of dead wood, often causing severe structural damage that often requires log replacement-a costly repair. We use Penetreat to help protect your home from costly damage of rot and insect infestation. Penetreat is a borate based wood preservative. Borates are well known across the world for their protective qualities. Penetreat provides a protective "shell" coating which helps defend your home against dry, wet, and brown rot, as well as termites, house borers, powder post beetles, and carpenter ants, (to name a few).

Borate is not toxic to people and animals. It will not harm you or your pets. Borates do not affect the natural color or strength of wood. They are completely odorless, and are not corrosive to metal fasteners, nails or screws. When a "Penetreat" home is properly sealed against moisture, the borates can provide many years of effective protective.

Impel Rods are a highly concentrated solid form, water diffusible borate rod. They are ideal for both preventative treatments of high risk areas and remedial treatments in areas with existing decay. Because Impel Rods stop decay when properly used, there is no need to replace decay damaged, yet structurally sound logs! Decay prone and rot hot spot areas at greatest risk include: base logs, corner construction, exposed rafters or overhangs, and below windows, doors, and dormers.

Impel Rods depend on moisture to work. When moisture contents of wood reach levels suitable for decay attack, i.e. (around 25 percent) Impel Rods slowly dissolve and begin to diffuse throughout the moisture saturated wood. The preservative will migrate into the areas of highest moisture, which are at the highest risk from fungal decay. The diffused Impel Rod will adequately and effectively prevent the wood from rotting and decaying because it will not allow the fungus that causes rot to grow. When moisture levels drop below 25 percent, the preservative becomes dormant and provides a reserve, ready to reactivate should decay conducive conditions reoccur. We feel that Impel Rods are an essential part of the protection of your log home, and include them as part of our prevention and restoration system.

We hope this article has been helpful and look forward to giving you much more information in future articles to help you preserve your log home dream!

Basement Makeovers

The basement is frequently the room that has the most square footage in a home. Yet, basements are frequently not always very welcoming. They can be dim and have dank and frequently they are simply treated as extra storage space. However, you can do much more with your basement than using it as a place to keep things. What is pleasant about a basement is that it can be your private space to do whatever you like. Be creative and come up with something you'd like to add to your home that can be completed in the basement.

A basement can be an exceptional location to store food. There is not much light in a basement, which is excellent for food. Having your own pantry can be very convenient. Another option is to store wine in your basement. What is enjoyable about this idea is that you can choose your favorite wines and then permit them to ferment in a spot in your home where they will not be disturbed. If you are one of the many home brew masters who like to make their own beverages, you can organize your basement to fit this purpose.

Basements can be a great escape for teenagers too, who are often happy to be in seclusion and enjoy having their own area where they can spend time with their friends and play video games. They're also a great place for teen bashes. Being underground, they're a lot less likely to disturb the neighbors. So why not fit out your basement appropriately with an upscale sound system and a luxury plasma television? This is a great way to make your kids content, and the envy of the neighborhood.

If you decide to go ahead and put a sound system in your basement, why not take it one step further and add a projector and perhaps some media chairs? This will convert your basement into a home cinema. You have the room you need to do a home theater right in a basement, and you also have the restricted light that is essential for this kind of room. This way you can turn your basement into a practical space that you and your friends will enjoy for years to come.

If you take pleasure in creative things like photography, a basement also works well as a darkroom. That way you can develop your own photos. You'll have to make sure that you have an entrance that can be restricted or has some sort of system to make sure that your darkroom is not entered at the wrong moment. You may want to also add some benches to use as a workspace. You can also add lines to hang photos to dry on. One thing you will have to do is consider the best way to add ventilation to your basement to make sure you are not breathing any harmful fumes. No matter what course you take with your basement, make sure it suits you and what you enjoy doing.

Need Help Remodeling Your Living Room?

If you are thinking of remodeling your living room, then you may be overwhelmed. What types of designs should you pick? What themes should you focus on? What color schemes should you choose? What design period should you emphasize?

The questions are endless. And the options are so plentiful they can make your head swim. But, there are ways to keep the process less challenging and more enjoyable. When you remember that your home is an extension of who you are, then you can relax and just let the ideas flow from your own creativity.

Think about the clothes that you wear. Consider your favorite designers for a moment. All of this will tell you your style. Do you like clean, tailored lines? Or do you prefer styles that flow and are made out of natural fabrics? Could it be that you are eclectic, and maybe even a little bit eccentric in your style choices opting for bright colors and bold patterns?

Either way you look at it, you should take cues from what's in your closet when deciding what direction to go when you are remodeling your living room. Keeping your choices in line with your tastes, as opposed to design trends, should ensure that you have an area that is comfortable and inviting to you.

Another great way to decide what you want from your new living room remodel is to watch some of the design shows on television. They are a great way to see what really inspires you. As you watch these shows, you should definitely take notes, jotting down the concepts and ideas that you find the most interesting. Once you have an idea of the room that you think you would like, you will have made major strides toward creating the room that you want.

Interior and architectural design magazines are great for finding ideas as well. Allowing these two media tools to help you really learn what brings you joy can be both educational and helpful to the overall success of your home remodeling makeover project.

Disadvantages of Natural Stone

When researching any type of building material for the home, it is always a good idea to ensure that you not only research the advantages of using the product, but the disadvantages as well. There are a few points that may be identified as a disadvantage to using natural stone in and around the home. These are as follows:

1. This is a natural manufactured stone. Many individuals prefer to stay away from stone types that are created. If you are looking for a product that is created from rocks obtained naturally, this may not be an ideal choice for you.

2. There is a possibility that the product may experience chipping and scratching. While this is basically a disadvantage, there is a positive side. If chipping or scratching occurs, the stone is created in such a manner that the under surface is the same as the outer surface. This means that it will blend in appropriately.

3. Individuals who use this type of stone may feel that it is not as durable as stones obtained naturally. However, it does have a high tolerance for extreme conditions.

Shower Curtains - The Perfect Facelift For Your Bathroom

Curtains Make The Home:

In audience is an old axiom that says that the costume make the man. If this is true, then shouldn't skylight curtains make the room? Yet there are some that feel that curtains are not a major part of redecorating. This can lead to a decoration disaster. Curtains are more than just cloth that is hung to prevent light from entering a room. They are an elaborate part of home dcor that needs to be chosen carefully. The curtains hanging from your windows are what bringing a room together, giving it balance and concurrence.

Window curtains have come a long way in the past few decades, and are considered dressing for your windows. Interior designers spend innumerable hours flipping through swatches of cloth to choose the perfect material for curtains. They consider it to be a tedious task however when they find just the right piece, they are overjoyed. If you do not want to use the services of an interior designer, choosing the right window curtains is a matter of taking the time to go through magazines or doing an online search for window treatments. It is vital to the look of your home to choose right window curtain.

Hemp shower curtains are only one of its kind shower curtains. They offer the longevity and effectiveness of vinyl and polyester shower curtains and the look of the cotton and linen ones. The heavy fabric is made from plant fiber like linen or cotton. However, hemp is naturally antibacterial and anti fungal. For the environmentally conscious people hemp grows organically and gets colored with natural dyes. These shower curtains remain durable after many wash and dry cycles and don't require the use of a plastic liner.

You can get a designer description of things as mundane as safety pins so a shower curtain cannot be far off. These days' interior designers design fabrics for curtains of all types. Shower curtains are also designed by interior decorators. These are more expensive than the normal ones that you can get from the market. Whether you have the American patriotic look, the beach party look, the flower patch look, or any other dcor, a designer curtain can be made to fit the look of your bathroom. There are sites on the net which will do up the curtains or you can also contact a designer you know or have heard of in your city to design an amazing looking curtain for your bathroom. A simpler type of curtain is a cafe curtain, which you usually find in a kitchen. These curtains are usually of light material and often have decorative designs that go well in a kitchen. These are the kinds of curtains you often imagine blowing in the wind in a kitchen.

Suchlike type of curtain or window handling you need, finding one that you like and that goes with your decor can sometimes be a challenge. In addition, if you need bigger drapes or curtains, they can cost quite a bit. However, drapes and curtains are often a longer term investment since you don't usually change them out every year, so find the ones that you like, and hopefully you will soon have a lovely window area to have the benefit of.

Finding Homes Using the Internet - Home Shopping

You can simply type the words real estate or homebuying into any search engine on the World Wide Web and you will come up with hundreds, maybe even thousands of websites that are extremely helpful and full of great information. Like the one you're on right now.

Finding homes with the internet, combined with a skilled real estate salesperson, provides you with the most effective technology available today. Most websites start out, having you select a state you would like to search in and then, select a city, with your price range.

By answering their questions, this narrows the search down to all of the homes available in the area. The internet has made home shopping very simple. Considering what you had to go through in the 1970s. You found a realtor or by looking in the yellow pages, sometimes you found a good realtor and if you are lucky, maybe you would find you a good home.

Most of the time, the first homes you would look at, were owned by the real estate professional you were working with.

There are however a couple of problems with using the internet to find your dream home. Some of the verbage used and photographs taken can create a wonderful illusion of a tropical paradise but the reality, it's a regular home in a decent neighborhood.

Some of these photos are taken by skilled photographers who take advantage of every angle and tend to give an illusion of grander. When you actually start driving around and looking at these homes, only then will you get a reality check, of what the home actually looks like. You'll get used to it.

After you've looked at a few of your future dream homes, you will get a better idea of what I'm talking about with these wonderful pictures and the extraordinary home descriptions like "Beautiful Three Bedroom House with an Ocean View." When reality it's a two-bedroom house with an extra closet for the third bedroom and the ocean is 45 miles away, but you can see it on a clear day if you actually climb to the top of the largest tree on the property.

Take your time when searching for your dream home and don't let any one push you into making a decision if you're not ready. If you find your real estate professional a little too aggressive or pushy, get out of your contract, if you've signed one and find another, more helpful real estate salesperson to help you with your home purchase.

Repairing a Leaking Toilet

Let me explain how a toilet works. First when you go to flush the toilet a little arm pulls a rubber flapper up and lets the water drain into the toilet bowl. The water draining into the toilet bowl forces the old water out along with the number two or number one waste and extremities.

If the toilet sounds like it is running there is a good chance that the seal between the rubber flapper and the plastic rain at the bottom of the toilet is broken somehow. The sound you are hearing is water running around this ring and in to the toilet bowl.

This leak is actually causing no damage to the toilet itself but is wasting water. Hence the water bill will be a little higher if you don't fix the leaking toilet. The best way to find out if this is actually your problem is to take the toilet tank lid off. Then stick your hand down into the toilet bowl and press gently on the rubber flap.

If the water stops leaking or starts running faster this is your problem. Turn the water off to the toilet. There will be a shut off valve on the wall under your toilet bowl in the bathroom. After you turn the water off removed the plastic flap and examine it.

You will be looking for a warped toilet flap or of some sort or grooves on the flapper itself. Take the toilet flapper down to your local home improvement store and buy a new one. Go home and replace the new toilet flapper and this should solve 90% of your leaking toilet problems.

There is one more thing it could be. With the toilet tank lid off, check to see if water is overflowing into the little round plastic pipe. This plastic pipe should have a small hose running from the float valve assembly into it.

If the water is over flowing from the toilet tank into this little plastic pipe you will need to adjust the float.

First thing you will need to do is while the toilet is running lift up on the float lever arm. If the water stops you can simply bend the metal arm of the float lever. The purpose of bending the arm will force the float deeper into the water there for stopping the water from rising over the small tube in the center of your toilet.

There are few parts to a toilet and most parts can be purchased at your local hardware or home improvement centers. Toilet repairs like this can be made simple and the parts used to replace are inexpensive.

Happy Toilet Repairing.

Decorative Ceiling Tile

Decorative ceiling tile is an item you might want to consider for your next remodeling project, or even for a new home. Many individuals do not realize that the ceiling is noticed by others when they come into your home. Think about it when you are in a new environment don't you look up as well as around to become comfortable with your surroundings. Don't you want to make sure that your ceiling matched the design and feel of the room you tried so hard to create, remember to tie in your ceiling to complete your room design and feel!

When choosing a decorative ceiling tile for your home, take the following into consideration.

First do you want a different color for your ceiling tile other than white, if so you want to make sure that your ceiling tile will enhance the appearance of your room by complimenting the colors of the room. You want to make sure that your tile color selection ties in well with the colors of the room and you get the desired effect for the room which you are remolding or creating. Try choosing a different shade of your room color or a different color altogether to much of the same color you will find becomes

Doing this will make sure that all of the colors that are in the room you are redecorating or remodeling will all tie together in the end. Be sure that you do not choose the same color for the ceiling tiles that you will have on the walls. When you have too much of the same color in the room, you will find that it can be domineering and takes away from the feeling and comfort of the room.

Do you want to go with ceiling tiles which has some sort of a design on the or just a plain ceiling tile? Should you decide to go with a design keep the design toned down you don't want to make the ceiling a focal point you just want to make it tie into your design thyme. Having a design or decoration that is complex may be to much and ultimately ruin your room deign that you were after. New Versus Old Lumber - Structural Failure

During my 30 years of remodeling and building new homes. I have ran across quite a bit of structural framing failures. I find myself answering this question a lot when explaining to a homeowner about the structural failure I am repairing on their home, "Why Didn't They Use Better Lumber" or " Why Didn't They Use Larger Lumber." I really have a hard time answering these questions because I honestly don't know the answer.

However I can try to use some logic and reason to give these people an answer that seems to make sense to both of us. Why didn't they use better lumber, quite simply because, with most older homes that were built before the 1970s they actually do have better lumber. Now you're probably thinking how can these homes have better lumber when the lumber is old versus the new lumber used in a brand new house.

Most of the structural repairs I have made over the years has nothing to do with the lumber and whether it was new or old. A large number of these repairs were caused by neglect and poor maintenance.

The lumber in most older houses are from older growth trees. Some of these trees were extremely large and only the premium parts of the trees were used. The premium lumber is cut farthest away from the center of the tree. Now the larger the tree it makes sense that there will be more premium lumber.

A large majority of the newer lumber used in home construction comes from trees about 6 inches in diameter. Now you're probably wondering how can they cut a 2 x 8 piece of lumber out of a 6 inch tree. Of course they cannot, the larger lumber comes from larger trees.

Most 2 x 4's that are less than 8 foot long can be cut from these trees. This scrap or waste that comes from cutting these two by fours will now go into engineered building materials like particleboard, oriented strand board and engineered beams. Another name for an engineered been would be a paralam.

I hope you're starting to get the picture now when it comes to using new or old lumber. There are companies that are going into old logging rivers and retrieving old growth lumber. These were logs that sank to the bottom of the river's and were never retrieved because it was too costly.

The old growth lumber is quite expensive. Who's to say what problems we will happen in the future from the newer products created with modern day technology. When it comes to building houses it is not an exact science and as contractors we have been repairing the damage from poor engineering for years.

When I use the word poor engineering I am not pointing fingers at engineers. We now have more knowledge about home construction then we had years ago.

New versus old lumber, who wins the battle. Only time will tell.

SAT Prep - How to Quickly Repair a Split Infinitive

An infinitive is a verb form using the word to, as in to do or to go. Infinitives are often "split" by adding a word between to and the bare infinitive: "To boldly go where no man has gone before."

Split infinitives are quite common in speaking and informal writing, but are frowned upon in formal writing. I urge you to avoid splitting infinitives in your SAT essay. Why take chances?

How to repair a split infinitive? Move the adverb.

Not: "To boldly go."

But: "To go boldly."

Or: "Boldly to go."

Or simply remove the adverb: "To go."

Why is it wrong to split an infinitive? Because it often weakens, not strengthens, the verb.

To see the terrible damage that can be inflicted by splitting infinitives, let's look at two versions of "The Impossible Dream" (lyrics by Joe Darion).

Bad version, with split infinitives:

To frequently dream the impossible dream
To occasionally fight the unbeatable foe
To often bear with unbearable sorrow
To eagerly run where the brave dare not go
To consistently right the unrightable wrong
To unfailingly love pure and chaste from afar
To always try when your arms are too weary
To eventually reach the unreachable star

Good version:

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

Notice the difference? The second version is better, stronger, faster.

Bonus question: How would you fix the title of this article?

Xbox 360 1 Hour Repair For Red Lights Problem

The Xbox 360 is a video game console using which you can play high end graphics games whenever you wish. These devices are not like other ordinary gaming consoles where you cannot install games in them. Adding to this, there are few drawbacks in normal gaming consoles like the low storage space, poor graphics, etc which lead to the development of second generation of video gaming console. Xbox 360 was introduced by Microsoft and the notable thing is that the hardware for the console is developed by Microsoft and the code for the chip components in the motherboard was also written by Microsoft programmers.

PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW VERSION
Xbox and Xbox 360 are two entirely different versions. Xbox 360 came out in the year 2005 with advance technology than the normal Xbox version. Now, problems have aroused with the Xbox 360's hardware performance. Many have complained about the hardware failure in the latest version than its previous version. Majority have complained about the frequent red light blinking in the power ring area. Xbox 360 has a power button surrounding which you will able to see lights glowing in green and red. All together they are called as the power ring. This is somewhat similar to your PC like the lights blinking in green and red color when you start your PC. When the console starts it will glow in green and shows the user that it has started without any problem. But, if there is any problem within the device then even though it has started, the device lights will be glowing in red color.

ACTUAL CAUSE FOR THE ERROR
The error has aroused because of the overheating of the console. The heat sinks placed above the microprocessors have failed to absorb the heat developed in the area. Thus causing the GUI to fail to start because of the over heat. Though internal coolers have been provided to the processors in order to cool them the heat developed is extraordinary that the cooling becomes inadequate. Because of these problems, the hardware signals the user about the problem in the hardware by glowing red light. If your console had similar kind of problem then you will observe three red lights in the power ring. This error is called as 'The Red Ring of Death' or simply as RRoD.

METHOD TO SOLVE
The error occurred can be solved permanently. You can give your console to the Microsoft service centre to repair the console if you have a warranty for it. But, the drawback is that you have to wait up to 3 months till the repair work gets over and it is shipped back to your home.

Still there is an alternative solution for this. You can repair the console on your own by watching some video tutorials in the internet. These videos will help you to repair the console. They will suggest only the removal of the X clamp from the motherboard. There are also some video samples for better understanding. The advantage in this method is that the console gets ready within an hour or two hours and you can start playing on the same day. It is very easy to repair your console and you don't need to wait for months to get it back from Microsoft.

Prepare For New Trends in Bamboo Shades

As the growth of any product increases, there will be a deepening of the available options out there. Often, the newer choices will be the best. Imagine the time when the re were only a few choices of personal computers. Later, even now, there are so many options. Given this inevitable flow of new options for products, one should not be surprised that there are so many new choices of window treatments available. In addition to the wide range of product choices, there is a deep and wide range of style and design with each category. This article will focus on the options available for bamboo shades. The old style of sticks interlaced with threads, which may have had only a few color choices, but not many design options, is the past. Now, perhaps due in part to enhanced production methods, as well as a desire to match almost every design plan, has led to a time which may well be the renaissance of bamboo shades.

The new trends in bamboo shades have included a movement towards the unconventional. Traditional American consumers have gone for basic white in window treatments. While there have always been sales of white bamboo shades, woven woods consumers have usually trended more toward the unique patterns. This will include different types of slat materials as well as new weaving and interlacing of threads.

Basic stick design has been replaced by more bamboo looking materials. The bamboo shades which use tortoise shell patterns are now increasingly common. These bamboo shades sometimes are colored differently, including black or red, which makes for a different type of color splash compared to the traditional greenish brown colors. Other designs use different sections of the split bamboo as the base. Much of this material was considered not attractive enough for bamboo shades, but now, with new production techniques, as well as the other new trends discussed in this article, these former scrap discards are being used in a productive way.

While the basic brown, beige, or white threads are still available, the trends here are towards more durable threads, which will last longer under strong exposure to the sun light. Bamboo shades also use newer colors, including green, red, and chocolate, and this range can allow for a design that may have looked commonplace to now look rich and new. This slight change is usually not noticeable as to the cause, but upon close examination of the threads, one will notice that a simple difference in color is the cause of the style enhancement for the bamboo shades.

The third most common way in which bamboo shades patterns are evolving is a new style of weaving the threads. The traditional shades had a simple drop in the threads, with a weave that mimicked plain flat fabric. However, the newer designs include braids, macrame, and twists. The woven threads themselves are beautiful enough to make a window treatment. However, the blending with old and new bamboo sections makes for a new and crisp treatment, worthy of a design award when used in a fashionable living room.

As the trends for higher fashion design ebb and flow in bamboo shades, consumers will be offered a fine new array of exquisite styling. Consumers should try to learn more about these new designs, all of which are available in real bamboo for prices similar to the less expensive and less design focused plastic options. The online retailers are the fastest to the market with these choices, but the unfortunate loss in ability to touch the real material is worth the trade off when realizing such great high fashion bamboo shades for one's spaces.

Professional Advice on Home Building

If you're a do it yourself or or a homeowner who every once in a while, once to tackle a small or large project but doesn't know where to begin, can gather useful information from home building books. I have been using these books for years and may have been worth their weight in gold.

I started my career working for my father and my father worked for his father as a Carpenter. Our job was to frame the house and we built a Lotta homes. I learned how to frame and developed some great carpentry skills from my father and working with other skilled carpenters. Over the years, if you're paying attention, even a monkey can figure out, how to assemble almost anything.

The only problem that I faced, was learning how to build the rest of the home. I would often ask questions to other building trades like plumbers, electricians, roofers and construction superintendents. Some of these people were helpful and others were not. When I was in my early 30s, I purchased my first book on home building. This book lead to other books and soon I found myself with more home building knowledge that my father.

I had about 50 books on home building and soon found myself doing large home remodels, with no formal education. I would attribute almost everything that I learned outside of house framing to books. These books have proven invaluable to me over the years and with a relatively small investment. I couldn't have spent over $200 purchasing these books but have used the knowledge from them to save myself thousands of dollars.

One $20 home building books or home repairs, can save you lots of money, if you're willing to do a little research and the labor to complete almost any home building project.

By the way, if you're interested in learning how to repair a roof, build your own house, interior decorating, structural engineering, building a deck, gathering some more information about home painting or even remodeling your bathroom. An online home building bookstore can save you money if you're willing to do the work.
